Magic Valley freeze dates arrive fast. A proper compressed-air blow-out is the only way to protect your irrigation system from cracked pipes and blown heads.
Why You Can't Skip It
Water left in your irrigation pipes when temperatures drop below freezing expands as it freezes. That expansion cracks PVC pipe, splits poly tubing, damages valves, and shatters spray heads.
Magic Valley regularly sees hard freezes in October and November, and the soil in the Snake River Plain doesn't provide enough insulation to protect buried lines at typical irrigation depths.
Draining alone leaves water trapped in low spots and fittings. A compressed-air blow-out is the only reliable method to fully evacuate water from every zone.

What Allen Does
Connect commercial compressor
Allen brings his own compressor — no equipment rental needed from you. He hooks up to your system's blow-out port or winterization cap.
Zone-by-zone evacuation
Each zone is activated one at a time and blown until no water discharges. Multiple passes ensure complete evacuation, especially in lower zones.
Backflow isolation
The backflow preventer shutoff valves are closed and the test cocks left open — standard winter positioning to prevent freeze damage to the assembly.
Controller set to off
The irrigation controller is set to off or rain/freeze mode so zones won't activate during an unexpected warm day that could re-fill the lines.
